Here you will find hand crafted straw work like bags, mats, hats and more. There are also wood carvings and art. It is a popular stop for tourists. The building has been repainted in bright colours since I took this shot. I will post an updated photo later.  Downtown, Bay St., Nassau, Bahamas.

Butler Home Destroyed by Fire

The old and historical Butler family home was completely destroyed by fire Thursday, March 13, 2014. It was the home of Sir Milo Butler, The Bahamas' first Bahamian Governor General and National Hero who fought for equal rights for black Bahamians. The home is located in The Pond area off East Bay St. and also served as a general store and ice house in it's early days. The building was unoccupied at the time and no one was injured. ©A.
