An' lock-down tight ma door
In dese crazy lass days

Dis' one comin' fass an’ true
No matter what I wish
Back agin to da corner shop
For water an' tuna-fish

I need more good plywood
For dis angry devil in da sky,
But dat greedy man dan dere
Done raise da price sky high

Need ta full ma car tank
Wit gas what scarce an’ so dear
Don't know what for anyhow
Cause I een drivin' no where
An da gas line so long

Dictatorship: Early Warning Signs

The transition from a democratic country to a dictatorship is often gradual and can be challenging to detect early on. However, there are several warning signs that can indicate such a shift. Here are some key indicators:

1. Erosion of Free Press and Media Control

  • Censorship: Increasing censorship of media and journalists.
  • Propaganda: Government control or influence over major media outlets, spreading propaganda.
  • Intimidation: Harassment or threats against journalists who criticize the government.

Bahamas: Labour Productivity

What is Labour Productivity?

Labour productivity measures the amount of output produced per unit of labour input. It is typically expressed as the ratio of total output to the total number of hours worked or the number of employees. This metric is crucial because it indicates the efficiency with which labour resources are utilized to produce goods and services. High labour productivity means more output is produced per worker, which can lead to economic growth, higher wages, and improved living standards.
