Attn: Photographers - We need images

Hello Photographers,

We are still in the process of searching and selecting artwork for display in the Kafe Kalik Restaurant in Orlando. The client has pretty much narrowed down their choices and will release these results shortly, but they are still searching for the following photography:

1. Photographs of Rawson Square or facets of it which speak to the history and beauty of the Square.
- They want beautiful artistic shots and B&W images are encouraged.

2. Photographs of the Junkanoo Parade on Bay Street.
- They are looking for colourful brilliant images of the Junkanoo parade as a whole; ones that really take in the beauty and spectacle of the large parade. For this, they are not looking for individual or close-up or intimate shots of costumes or people, they hope to get panoramic shots or wide angle or panned-out shots that take in a lot of what is seen on Bay. Shots that show the energy, colour, costumes and the multitude of people who provide the pulse of the parade. We want to give visitors to the restaurant who have never seen Junkanoo an understanding of the scale and the scope of it when in full force on Bay. (Hope this explains it well.)

So, if you have photographs that speak to these two categories, would you be so kind as to email me low resolution images (ideally with your name or copyright on each image so we can know what belongs to who) so we can have a look? Kindly inform us of titles of photographs, maximum size output, and cost to purchase.

We need them as quickly as you can send them and we sincerely appreciate your cooperation in this regard. Thank you, Thank you, Thank You!!

Seeking Bahamian Artwork to Purchase-UPDATE 2

Dear Artists,

RE: Now looking for "Bahamian-themed" artwork; not just "Junkanoo-themed" work.

We met with the client this weekend and went over the submissions that have come to us thus far. We wish to thank all of those artists that have taken the time and effort to respond to our call. The client is still going through the first round of the selection process. We should be announcing final decisions within the next two weeks.

However, there has been an addition to the subject matter of the artwork the client wishes to look at. Instead of just Junkanoo themed work, the client has decided to relax the parameters. They are now willing to include artwork whose subject matter is "Bahamian themed" (i.e. Bahamian fauna, flora, seascapes, landscapes, etc.) They realize that they would have more work to choose from by doing this. So this opens the door for even more artists to submit.

SO if any artists have pieces that fall in this category, feel free to email me photos of them as well. Please send photos by email ASAP to: dionne@smith-benjamin.com.

They are willing to look at:
1. paintings
2. sculpture
3. ceramics
4. photography
5. prints

We would also need to know the following information. Kindly include when sending photos:

1. Title of Piece(s),
2. Dimensions of Piece(s),
3. Medium of Piece(s)
4. Cost of Piece(s)
5. If it's a painting, photography or print - whether it is framed or not.

Deadline:
We will be reviewing submissions until July 18th, 2008. July 18th is our cutoff time as there is much work to be done after all work has been decided upon and purchased. We want to have all accepted work in our hands by Friday, July 25th.

Cost of Artwork:
Because of the number of pieces we require and the budget we are working with, cost is a determining factor whether we will be able to acquire a piece or not.

We encourage all artists to consider this offer as your artwork will be showcased in a high-traffic restaurant in a cosmopolitan city. Your name and contact information will be included on a label beside the artwork in the event a customer sees your work in the restaurant and wishes to purchase more.

If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to email; we will be happy to accommodate your questions.

We look forward to hearing from you at your very earliest opportunity.

Kafe Kalik - Seeking Artwork to Purchase

Dear Artists,

Our client, Kafe Kalik Restaurant, will be opening its fourth location on International Drive in Orlando in August. This restaurant will be a high-end restaurant featuring Bahamian food, culture and artwork and attracting a considerable amount of international customers from around the world.

The owners have charged us with the task to search for quality artwork that will set the decor and theme of the restaurant. They are specifically seeking to purchase paintings, sculpture and ceramics incorporating Junkanoo themes and imagery. The restaurant has generous spaces so large-sized pieces will definitely be considered.

If you possess any paintings, sculpture and ceramics which are available for purchase that fits these specifications, kindly call or email me at your very earliest opportunity as our time frame is very tight to source, purchase, pack, ship to Orlando and install before the opening date.

To save on time and expense, we would very much like to view potential artwork by email (if possible) before we take a look at the work in person to determine if it will be in keeping with the owners' wishes for artwork. Please send photos by email ASAP to: dionne@smith-benjamin.com.

It is imperative you include the following information with the photos:

1. Title of Piece(s),
2. Dimensions of Piece(s),
3. Medium of Piece(s) and
4. Cost of Piece(s).

We encourage all artists to consider this offer as your artwork will be showcased in a high-traffic venue in a cosmopolitan city. Your name and contact information will be included on a label beside the artwork in the event a customer sees your work in the restaurant and wishes to purchase more.

We look forward to hearing from you at your very earliest opportunity. Thank you for your consideration.

UPDATE

These are answers to some questions asked by artists who have responded:

1. Type of Artwork: We are seeking artwork with JUNKANOO imagery. The restaurant is a JUNKANOO-themed restaurant and therefore the client is looking for pieces that clearly depict JUNKANOO or its essence - realistic or abstracted.

2. Abstract: Junkanoo imagery does not have to be literal. We will consider abstract work; but it should clearly communicate the essence of Junkanoo.

3. Photography will also be considered.

4. Deadlines: We will be reviewing submissions beginning now until July 18th, 2008. The deadline for us to receive accepted work will be Friday, July 25th. July 18th is our cutoff time as there is much work to be done after all work has been decided upon and purchased.

5. Cost of Artwork: Because of the number of pieces we require and the budget we are working with, cost is a determining factor whether we will be able to acquire a piece or not.

If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to email or call; we will be happy to accommodate your questions.

Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing your work.
