Friends of the Environment's
12 Days of Christmas
Day 11

They grow up so fast!
We have had an amazing group of interns this year and several of them are our former students. We have had nostalgic moments of pride as we watched our former campers become camp counselors!

DaShane Knowles
DaShane Knowles, intern, summer camp
DaShane has participated in FRIENDS programs since he was about 6 years old. It was so rewarding having him return for his second year as a camp counselor! DaShane is currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering at Penn State University with a full scholarship!

Jaro Curry
Jaro Curry, intern, summer camp
Jaro is still a high school student, but whenever he has free time he pops by the FRIENDS Centre to see how he can help! He has become an indispensable volunteer for the education program.

Ebany Hanna
Ebany Hanna, Macy Yust, Lianna Burrows, interns, summer camp
Ebany first worked with FRIENDS through her high school work study program. She has now assisted with summer camp for a couple years!

Lianna Burrows
Lianna Burrows

Lianna is a recent graduate of Eckerd College who interned with FRIENDS this summer. She returned to assist with some fall field courses and has now been hired by FRIENDS as our new education officer!

Macy Yust
Macy's family has been visiting Abaco for years. She loves the environment and working with kids and was eager to learn more about Abaco's environment in particular. We were happy to have her as part of the team.

Our Protege!!
Khalea Richard is the daughter of Jim Richard, a long serving board member of FRIENDS. She has participated in FRIENDS programs since she was six years old and is now teaching the Sea Beans after school program for ages 3-5. We know Khalea will change this world and we are proud to be a part of her and so many others formative years.
