All Andros Harvest Festival 2019

On March 30 th, 2019, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Bahamas Agriculture & Marine Science Institute (BAMSI), is hosting the first Annual Harvest Festival in Morgan’s Bluff, North Andros.

The festival celebrates the abundant harvest of farm produce and marine resources produced by Andros’s rich farmland and marine ecosystems.

Harvest Fest also commemorates the area’s agricultural legacy dating back to the early 1900’s when its industry began supplying the rest of the Bahamas and specified markets in North America.

Today, the community is now the home of the country’s premier educational institute for agricultural and marine science with its mandates to foster local sustainable agriculture and fisheries, and the Bahamas’ national food security.

The event takes place at Morgan’s Bluff Regatta Site next to the harbor and beautiful beach, two miles northeast of Nicholl’s Town, North Andros’ capital. Billed as the island’s largest farmers’ and fish market ever held, Harvest Fest will feature food and craft vendors with
live entertainment by popular Androsian and Bahamian artists.

A culinary pavilion will host live cooking demos using native produce, and the final ceremony will celebrate local farmers and their significant contribution to Bahamian agriculture and commerce. Frequent bus tours will run from the festival site to BAMSI’s headquarters further south. As well as promoting Andros’ farm and marine produce, the event will help to establish a scholarship fund.

Andros Ministry of Tourism Manager, Peter Douglas, encourages Bahamians and the
country’s hotels, restaurants, and food suppliers to enjoy a visit and support several vital causes at the same time.  Read more >>
