Happy Valentine's Day Readers,
This
week’s editorial is a strong one! We thought it quite appropriate on
Valentine’s Day to remind all Bahamians, no matter what island they live
on, that we are in this all together: WE IS ONE!
Are you Serious?
Last
week we were very excited to tell you about one definite cruise port
and one proposed second port project for Grand Bahama. We were at the
Carnival ‘Road to 2021’ launch, and the excitement in the air was so
fantastic, especially as everyone knows it’s been a few hard and tragic
years for the ‘second city’. So imagine our horror, when the headlines
two days after this double bang for GB, was about Nassau having major
concerns that Freeport was going to steal all their cruise business!
Are you SERIOUS?
This
is how you treat your sister island? We finally get good news and you
are only concerned about how you will do? You, with your Atlantis? You,
with Baha Mar? The Pointe? Albany? Island House? Palm Cay? Need we go
on?

Response to the NHIA presentation from the PLP leadership team.
|
Firstly,
we in the Progressive Liberal Party would like to thank both the
Chairman Dr. Robin Roberts and the Managing Director, Graham Whitmarsh
and his team for an informative presentation on the National Health
Insurance Authority (NHIA) and their plans for National Health Insurance
(NHI) going forward.
We
in the Progressive Liberal Party understand the importance of universal
health and the role national health insurance must play in order to
deliver on this important mandate. NHI is our baby and we want it to
succeed. Quality healthcare must be accessible to all Bahamians and we
believe NHI is the way to accomplish this.
