Heart Ball Committee's Tea Party & Fashion Show

Under the theme “Tea Time”, The Sir Sassoon Victor (Bahamas) Heart Ball Committee jumpstarted their fund raising activities in celebration of the nation’s 40th anniversary of Independence, as they prepared for their 50th Annual Heart Ball.

Pink flamingos! Blue Marlins! Yellow Elder! Deep Blue Seas! Lignum Vitae! These are all national symbols of The Bahamas that were also table themes at the Annual tea Party & Fashion Show.  The festivities were held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the Ball Room and adjoining verandah at Government House.  The air was filled with laughter, music was provided by the Urban Renewal Band and Gary “Super” Johnson. The sweet aroma of teas, flowers and happiness filled the air. The event was kindly hosted by Joanne Lady Foulkes and Mc’d by Phyllis Johnson-Garraway.

This fun-filled afternoon of elegance consisted of  a fashion show, a hat parade, a table decorating contest,  and displays by artisans such as Rik Carey, Mary L’s Kreative Kraft, Beth’s Kitchen, Banesian Designs and others. Teas were provided by Pasion Tea Ltd, Twinings Tea and Beth’s Kitchen.

The guests were mesmerized by things Bahamian and Bahamian fashion. Models showed off clothing from Brynda Knowles, Abishag, and many more designers. Additionally, they modeled jewelry from Banesian Designs, and Giovanna Knowles. Straw work was modeled from Aidan Design and Mary L’s Kreative Kraft. The event was topped with table prizes, door prizes, and raffle prizes which consisted of a trip for two on Bahamasair to Florida, coupled with an Alamo car rental in Florida.

The Heart Ball Committee is very grateful and thankful to all who helped to make this event a great success. The public is encouraged to continue support The Heart Foundation through their generous donations and support of events. Over 97% of the funds raised help to repair the heart of a child, who cannot afford heart care otherwise.

The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation is a non-profit organization that assists children with the treatment of heart repair.  The Heart Ball Committee is the fund-raising of The Foundation, consisting of dedicated volunteers.
