Reception Announcing DL new Grand Bahama Service



Bahamas Cultural Extravaganza at reception announcing New Direct Atlanta/Grand Bahama Service

A Bahamian cultural extravaganza, in Atlanta over the weekend, was the highlight of a reception hosted by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and The Grand Bahama Tourism Board to support the upcoming launch of a Delta Direct Service between Atlanta and Grand Bahama to begin December 19th, 2013.

An impressive crowd that jammed the ballroom of the Georgian Hotel, Midtown Atlanta,  was feted to Bahamian eats including Conch Fritters, Bahamian entertainers and the unique sight and sounds of Bahamian Junkanoo.






Attendees included Travel Agents, Meeting Planners, Media and local influencers from the Atlanta marketplace.  The reception concluded a Sales Mission to the Atlanta area that was primarily to herald the Delta upcoming direct service to Grand Bahama but also announced The Islands Of  The Bahamas return to the Atlanta area.  The Bahamas Tourist Office, Atlanta is being re-opened with Eddie Archer returning as the Manager.

The reception was described as "a splashing success”, and opened with a Trade Show that featured information and literature of Grand Bahama Tourism entities.  Displays included The Grand Lucayan Resort, Pelican Bay Resort, Memories Resort, Viva Wyndham Resort and Flamingo Bay Resort.  Also displaying at the Trade Show was Hadley Forbes Charter Services.



The contingent taking part in the Mission included Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Representatives from across the Board.  Betty Bethel, Manager and Antoinette Neilly representing Grand Bahama;  The Bahamas Tourist Office U.S. was represented by  Andrew Adderley, Sales distribution; Linville Johnson, Religious Market; Anita Johnson, African American Market; Jennifer Gardiner, Events and Promotions; Richard Treco, Vertical Markets (dive, boating, fishing); Donna Mackey, Travel Trade; Omar Isaacs, Airlift and Cecile Torrence, Weddings and Honeymoons.

Also representing The Bahamas at the reception were members of the country’s Foreign Service, Ricardo Treco, Bahamas Consul General, Florida and Consul General Randy Rolle with members of his team from the Bahamas Consulate General’s Office, Atlanta, GA.



The Bahamas partners taking part in the reception and providing brief, informative presentations, included Grand Bahama hoteliers as well as Delta Airlines and MLT executives.

Guests received a variety of gifts and prizes including  airline tickets and hotel stays. The evening culminated with Junkanoo and limbo dancing.
