Bahamian Owner/Operator of Long Island, Bahamas Resort, named President of BOIPB
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -September 9, 2011 - Bahamian entrepreneur and hotelier, Shavonne Darville, was elected to serve as President of The newly elected Bahama Out Islands Promotion Board, at their recent elections.
Ms. Darville, owner of Gems at Paradise Private Beach Resort in Long Island, will serve along with other newly elected board members, Vice President, Paul Soutter, of Sandals Emerald Bay Resort, and Treasurer, Kent Jimison, Travel Media International. Stephen Kappeler, of Cape Eleuthera resort is the Past President and Nettie Symonette of Different of Nassau, is the Life Time Director. Wendy Clements of Gulf stream International Airlines is an Allied member.
The Bahama Out Islands Promotion Board assists hotel members to achieve higher occupancies and increased room revenues while reducing operating costs for greater return on investment. Membership benefits include: participation in domestic and international tourism promotions like “Two Fly Free-Free Companion Airfare, ” ” “$400 Instant Credit” and “Private Pilot” incentives that boost room revenues. There are also lobbying and networking opportunities, advertising discounts, trade show representation, and chances for educational enhancement.
Elected as President of the board for the 2011/2012 term, Mrs Darville has expressed that during her year in office, her objective is to “focus on ‘people issues’ namely, take a look at what’s working and what’s not working to get the machinery of business expansion moving ahead at a faster pace.”
The newly elected President also shared her vision for the Board’s role in Out Island development as an effective partnership of the public and private sectors to increase visibility of each of the islands while providing better accessibility, affordable airlift and sustainable touristic development to stimulate the islands’ economies.
The Bahama Out Islands Promotion Board sponsors the current popular “Two Fly Free” domestic tourism promotion that supports the objective of expanding tourism growth and boosting general economic development in the Family Islands.
