2011 Destination Bahamas


Northeast Florida Regional Airport has record attendance at “Destination…Bahamas”.

Saint Augustine, Florida / June 6, 2011: Northeast Florida Regional Airport and Galaxy Aviation announced that attendance was record setting for Destination…Bahamas held on June 4, 2011 from 10AM – 2PM. The event, free to the public, drew close to a thousand people interested in learning about travel to and from the Islands of the Bahamas from Saint Augustine.

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism along with 23 exhibitors promoted all the wonderful things offered in the Islands. 4 air charter companies were on hand showcasing their aircraft for travel to and from the Bahamas. Aircraft on display were a Pilatus PC-12, a Citation and Eclipse Jet.

The Junkanoo performance and Bahamian lunch was a hit with all who attended. There was standing room only for the seminars on flight planning, customs procedures and safety for "over water flight" that was conducted by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, FAA, Department of Homeland Security, FlightPlan.com, and Bahamas Habitat.

Senator Tony Hill was in attendance discussing how to enhance relations between Florida and the Ministry of Tourism. Local Mayor of Saint Augustine Beach, Rich O’ Brien attended as well.
